SS-916 Series of silicone adhesives
I.Performance Features
PSA916 series silicone adhesive is a toluene solution based on polysiloxane raw rubber and resin with additives, which is a widely used high temperature resistant pressure sensitive adhesive. It can be mixed with other methylsiloxane pressure-sensitive adhesives to obtain specific properties. It can be used in a wide range of temperatures and can bond a variety of difficult-to-stick materials with low surface energy, such as silicones, fluoropolymers and polyolefins.

II.Main technical indicators
Note: the proportion of adhesive, according to the original adhesive: diluent: BPO = 100/65/1.5-2.0 proportioning, by 90 ℃ * 2min in addition to the solvent, 160 ℃ * 6min curing; test conditions: the temperature of 25 ℃, humidity 55-65%, PET film thickness of 38um, the thickness of the dry adhesive in the 20-25um.
III.Scope of application
As a pressure-sensitive adhesive can be coated on PET, aluminum foil and other substrates with traditional high-temperature tape coating equipment to produce special performance pressure-sensitive adhesive tape with good high temperature and chemical resistance, can also be used in the printed circuit board plating process masking, SMT process, FPC, PCB boards, sandblasting, painting, high-temperature baking paint, gold-plating or plating process masking the need for protection of the parts of the process, as well as electronic, electrical and other products, such as insulation bandage fixing, and so on.
IV.Application Notes
- Due to the different factors such as substrate, coating equipment, curing cycle and desired properties, the amount of curing agent (available peroxide such as BPO or DPP, BPO is recommended) to be added is 1.5 to 2.5% of the amount of glue. In order to ensure the best mixing of curing agent and adhesive, first dissolve it completely in solvent and then add it to the glue, stirring and mixing. At the same time, before coating on the machine should be filtered again with a 250 mesh screen to prevent the color paste or other impurities particles into the mix.
- The use of curing agents can speed up curing or allow curing at low temperatures, and can also increase the cohesive strength of the adhesive and improve its adhesion properties to the substrate. Mixed and formulated peroxide dispersions should only be used for one to two days because peroxides quickly lose their activity in solvents. Sufficient dispersion of the adhesive and peroxide during the mixing process is necessary to ensure the consistency of the finished product’s use.
- SS916 series adhesives can be coated directly with conventional tape coating equipment, and can be further thinned with compatible solvents such as toluene and xylene before coating, and the concentration of the working solution should be about 35%, which can be determined according to the respective equipment and experience. The use of solvents for coating must be well ventilated and the safety precautions and regulations of the solvent supplier must be observed.
- In some applications, where the adhesive does not bond sufficiently to the backing material, it may be necessary to apply a primer coat prior to applying the adhesive. The primer material must be cured prior to application, and the curing conditions depend on the performance of the equipment, the type of substrate, and the formulation used.
- Surface Vulcanization Cycle: 80-90°C*2min desolventization to ensure that no solvent is present in the adhesive when it enters the curing zone for vulcanization; 160-170°C*6min heat curing to further strengthen the adhesion, cohesion strength, and initial tack. However, the exact conditions required for complete vulcanization depend on the length, temperature and efficiency of the heating oven, the type of curing agent and the type of substrate used, and tests must be carried out on the equipment to determine the conditions.
- If the equipment and substrate allow for higher curing temperatures, the curing time can be shortened. Increasing the curing temperature allows the cohesive strength of the adhesive to be reached in a shorter period of time compared to curing at lower temperatures.
V.Packaging and storage and transportation
Packed in clean and dry 200L iron drum, sealed with lid. Store at room temperature (0~35℃), the storage period is 6 months (overdue inspection, can still be used) to prevent direct sunlight, according to the storage and transportation of flammable products.
