ethyl silicate CAS 78-10-4 Si-32/Si-40/Si-28
Ethyl silicate (English name ethyl silicate), also known as ethyl orthosilicate (tetraethyl orthosilicate), tetraethoxysilane (Tetraethoxysilane), referred to as TEOS. ethyl silicate is a colourless and transparent liquid at room temperature, with a special odour. It is stable in the presence of anhydrous, decomposed into ethanol and silicic acid in the presence of water, becomes turbid in humid air, soluble in alcohol, ether and other organic solvents. Molecular formula is (C2H5O)4Si, melting point -77℃, boiling point 168.1℃. Toxic, strong irritant to human eyes and respiratory tract. Produced by distillation of silicon tetrachloride and anhydrous ethanol. It is used for making heat-resistant and chemical-resistant coatings and preparing silicone solvents, and can also be used in organic synthesis, the basic raw material for the preparation of high-grade crystals, optical glass treatment agent, binding agent, and insulating material for the electronic industry.
